As part of the Library's celebration of Pride Month join Roger Rosen as he takes a closer look at the current status of Pride Month. The Stonewall Uprising took place 56 years ago, and for many, Pride Month is a given. They've never known a June without it. The days of bar raids and arrests for "cross-dressing" seem as distant as a world without the internet. The LGBTQ+ community fought for, and made, remarkable progress since that pivotal moment. Perhaps some saw that march towards equality as a one-way street, but progress is fragile. This program will explore the progress the LGBTQ+ community has made since Stonewall as well as reflect on the state of LGBTQ+ life today. Where have we been? And where are we going? Roger Rosen is a teacher, Queer Theorist, artist, writer, and performer. He presents work on Queer Theory, facilitates Safe Zone trainings, and conducts professional development for educators.
