Program Description

Event Details

Perched high on a rocky mountain in southern France, Carcassonne is the most famous of many such fortresses that dot the landscape of Languedoc. It is rumored that the Ark of the Covenant, the treasures of Solomon and the body of Jesus are hidden away in the caves beneath the hills. During the Middle Ages Christian heretics took refuge in the hills, caves and fortresses to escape persecution by the kings of France, the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and the pope of Rome. Join Professor Ron Brown as he explores the fascinating history of Carcassonne.
