As part of the Library's celebration of Black History Month, join award-winning teacher and art historian Dennis Raverty as he explores the lives and work of sculptor Edmonia Lewis and painter Henry Ossawa Tanner. Both of these artists relocated to Europe permanently to pursue their artistic careers. This presentation will examine sacred themes and the exploration of black identity in their work.
