Join Port Washington’s own Kelly McMasters, an accomplished essayist, bestselling author and Hofstra professor as she discusses her new book, The Leaving Season: A Memoir in Essays.  In these essays McMasters writes about navigating marriage and motherhood, art and ambition, grief and nostalgia, and the elusive concept of home.  Described by author Joanna Rakoff as “a profound and beautiful book.… Never have I encountered a memoir that explores motherhood and marriage with such warmth, intimacy, and wisdom. This is a book that will forever change the way you see your world―and yourself.” Along with The Leaving Season, she is the author of Welcome to Shirley: A Memoir of an Atomic Town, an Orion Book Award finalist and one of Oprah’s Top 5 Summer Memoirs, and co-editor of Wanting: Women Writing About Desire and This is the Place: Women Writing about Home.

Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a 'hybrid' event that can be attended either "In-Person" or "Online" on the Zoom platform. You can choose which option you wish to register for below in the "Do you want to attend in-person or online?" dropdown menu below.
