Program Description

Event Details

Ahoy, Matey!  The ocean can be a dangerous, frightening place. Through the years, mariners have encountered pirates who plundered their ships and terrorized their crew, and have seen ghost ships that seemed to be sailing the seas without a trace of their crew. Through it all, these brave seafarers sought explanation for the many mysteries of the sea and comfort from its dangers in legend and folklore.  Join Eco-Photo Explorers for a fun-filled program as they tell the real stories of Pirates, Buccaneers and Privateers and examine the mysteries of some of the most famous Ghost Ships of all time. Along the way, many of the superstitions of the sea will also be discussed.

Sponsored by the Library's Nautical Advisory Council
