Before IMAX, Virtual Reality, and Real 3D, there was Cinerama, Naturalvision, CinemaScope, and Todd-AO. It was the early 1950s, and the Hollywood studios faced a losing battle against television, so they struck back with technology. Cinema screens became wider, motion picture film grew from 35-millimeter to 70-millimeter, and multi-dimensional sound became the new norm. Join film historian Max Alvarez for this exciting lecture featuring sequences from such 1950s hits as This is Cinerama, How to Marry a Millionaire, and House of Wax. And see it on our big screen!
