Join award-winning teacher and art historian Dennis Raverty for his latest installment in the history of illustration as he explores the immensely popular printmaking firm Currier and Ives. Dubbing their operation, "The Grand Depot for Cheap and Popular Prints," lithographers Currier and Ives were able to take advantage of the vast market for affordable prints. Their many artists created over 7000 different designs altogether between 1834, when the company was established, and 1907, when it was dissolved. So successful were they that at one point over 90 percent of all lithographs in circulation in the United States were produced by the firm.
