After the official "closing" of the frontier after the 1890 census, the myth of the west reached its apex in the painting of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell, whose contrasting work was the basis for our continuing representations of "The West" well into the 20th century, as a semi-fictive realm of the imagination.  Join award winning teacher and art historian Dennis Raverty as he continues his series about the history of illustration.
