Program Description

Event Details

Join Eco-Photo Explorers for a look at Long Island's Montauk Highway which historically extends from Jamaica, Queens to the Montauk Lighthouse. Along the way, it has assumed several names and identities (Merrick Road, Main Street, Montauk Highway, Route 80, etc.). Regardless of its name, the highway is a microcosm of life on Long Island. In this program, Eco-Photo Explorers examine the rich history of this route, from colonial times to present day pop culture. Audiences are bound to be entertained, enlightened and come away feeling a sense of nostalgia for how Long Islanders once lived.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library

PLEASE NOTE: This is a 'hybrid' event that can be attended either "In-Person" or "Online" on the Zoom platform. You can choose which option you wish to register for below in the "Do you want to attend in-person or online?" dropdown menu below.
