Join Professor Ron Brown as he continues a series of programs exploring the great avenues of the world. A stroll along the Champs Élysées in Paris is one of those must do experiences of the City of Light. Running between the Place de la Concorde in the east and the Place de Gaulle in the west, where the Arc de Triomphe is located, the avenue has been the model for every city that aspires to greatness. King Louis the Great, the Sun King, commissioned his court architect André Le Nôtre to carve out this avenue and line it with monuments to the greatness of the King. Even it’s length, 1.2 miles, became the global standard of future grand avenues.
