In celebration of Black History Month, join Tanisha Mitchell for this special presentation, "Cotton: The Dream and Hope of the Slave," which honors the African American experience during slavery and its indelible impact on history and most of all on the plight of the descendants. In this moving presentation, Ms. Mitchell carefully crafts the words of slaves through themes matched with slave narratives and spirituals.  Her presentation will include the live performance of two spirituals.

Named a "Mover and Shaker" by Library Journal, Tanisha Mitchell is best known for her innovative work in the arts at the Metropolitan Opera and the Freeport Memorial Library.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
