Join Professor Ron Brown as he continues his series about lost cities, with one man's obsession with the Lost City of Z. British Major Percy Fawcett stumbled across a legend of a lost city of gold deep in the Brazilian jungle around 1910 and spent the rest of his life seeking this remarkable city. In 1924, with the backing of the British Royal Geographical Society, the New York Rockefeller Foundation and a host of British and American newspapers, he, his son, and his son’s friend set out to find this city. The party was never heard from again. Many British and American rescue parties set out to find the lost group, but to no avail. Legends including Fawcett ruling over a vast Indian empire, his actual finding of the lost city and choosing to remain there, his acceptance by the natives as a god, and a host of others continue to inspire movies, books, and further jungle expeditions.
