Event Details

As the summer season draws to a close, the Library offers a summer blockbuster from years ago, with a screening of Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977 - 135 min.)  This hit science fiction film from the legendary writer and director Stephen Spielberg, included break-through special effects as well as an unforgettable film score by John Williams.  The film stars Richard Dreyfus, Teri Garr, Francois Truffaut, and Bob Balaban.  Dreyfus plays Roy Neary, who is an electric lineman in Indiana, who finds his life turned upside down after a close encounter with a UFO.  Roy becomes obsessed with what he saw and begins a cross-country odyssey looking for answers to this unexplained phenomena.
