Theater for Dessert presents a new play based on the book Crime Club by Melodie Campbell.

Adapted and Directed by Elise May

Produced by Books for Dessert, with generous funding from the Greentree Foundation.

Theater for Dessert, a new program from Books for Dessert, offers adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to bring books to life while learning theater skills. This eight-week program will have participants learning the tools of the actor, from acting and vocal warmups to rehearsal and performance. Communication skills, character development and social interaction are all part of the interactive theatrical learning process. Multimodal arts learning will also be experienced through set and costume design and creation working with professionals in the industry.

Elise May, Program Director for Theater for Dessert, is a Teaching Artist/Arts Administrator, actor/singer, writer/storyteller. Her original award-winning Arts-in-Education program Creative Readers - an arts education inclusion program and winner of the 2017 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award- uses theater arts for communication empowerment and community development with all populations.
