Join award-winning teacher and art historian Dennis Raverty as he continues his exploration of the history of American Illustrators with a look at Charles Dana Gibson and Arthur Burdett Frost. Illustrator Charles Dana Gibson lampooned the turn-of-the-century, modern battle of the sexes with his popular humorous illustrations, while Arthur Burdett Frost, best known for his "Uncle Remus" tales, gives human characteristics to his charming animals. Once very popular, his work has been criticized more recently as embodying racist stereotypes.
Please note this will be a hybrid event and participants are invited to join us in-person or virtually on Zoom.
