Please join PCLI on Wednesday, May 8, at 7:30 pm at the Port Washington Public Library for an exciting slide show presentation by Port Washington Photographer and PCLI member Dan Kasle. His presentation will cover a variety of locations from Vietnam and Cambodia, the Minnesota State Fair and The Day of the Dead in Mexico. Dan Kasle has been a resident of Port Washington since 1982. Originally from Detroit, he began his love for photography in middle school when his parents built a darkroom for him in the basement of their family home. As photo editor for their college newspaper, he met his wife Annette, who was a reporter on the staff. Today, they share their love of photography and travel.

About his photography, Dan has written:

“Photography exercises parts of my brain and frees parts of my soul that I have long ignored and underutilized. And that feels really good. Much of my work was made at the right time, right place; saw it, shot it. I’ve had some amazing experiences and tried to capture where I have been and what I saw. I want my photographs to elicit an emotional response from the viewer; empathy, delight, amusement, good memories, bad memories. If the image stimulates a desire to go someplace, meet someone or see colors and shapes up close, then I have achieved something. If they laugh with me or just look more deeply into a photo, that is success for me as the photographer. As I continue to learn and work at this craft, building a body of work, it is my goal to move to more deliberate and purposeful creations which ideally evoke feelings of common experience, joy and the importance of human relationship.”

Much of his work can be seen on his website and Instagram page: IG @danielkasle. website https://www.danielkaslephotography.com
