In the not so distant future, bullet trains will glide at over two hundred miles an hour from Boston to Richmond, Virginia through an unending corridor of skyscrapers, suburbs, industries, parks, business centers, and cultural oasis. The New York Megalopolis will constitute one of the great urban areas of the 21st Century with an estimated population of well over 50 million people. On the West Coast the San Francisco - San Diego megalopolis will have an equal number of residents. People of all races, creeds, colors, and backgrounds will migrate from megalopolis to megalopolis, the Metropolitan Museum on Fifth Avenue, Wall Street financial institutions, Columbia University, and Broadway theaters will be replaced by a host of smaller institutions scattered throughout the mega city. Join Professor Ron Brown in this discussion of the future of New York City. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
