Event Details

Theater for Dessert presents, “The Italian Cure,” bringing European adventure and romance to the Lapham Room at the PWPL on Tuesday June 11th at 7 p.m. This is Theater for Dessert’s second performance venture after last year’s highly successful production of “The Crime Club” wowed our audience of friends and family.
Theater for Dessert, a program from Books for Dessert, offers adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) the opportunity to bring books to life while learning theater skills. This ten-week program will have participants learning the tools of the actor, from acting and vocal warmups to rehearsal and performance.

Elise May, Program Director for Theater for Dessert, is a Teaching Artist with original award-winning Arts-in-Education programs (Storytime Theater, Expressive Elocution, Multicultural Voices, Creative Readers - an arts education inclusion program and winner of the 2017 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award) that use theater arts for communication empowerment and community development with all populations.

This program is made possible in part with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by Huntington Arts Council.
