Critical analysis of texts in different genres is an integral part of most college curriculum. Knowing this, the College Board designed the SAT essay to mimic an assignment that a student might see in a college class to assess his or her critical analysis skills. In this workshop, students will learn how to critically analyze a text and write a persuasive argument in response to it following the same format as that of the SAT essay. We will also discuss strategies and scoring. After taking this workshop, students will have a better understanding of not only the SAT essay, but also how to critically analyze a text and write a persuasive argument to meet the expectations of their upcoming college classes.
