SoundSwap Roundtable: Breaking Down Barriers!: Early Interracial Bands

At this week's SoundSwap Round Table Event, in celebration of Black History Month, Port Washington Public Library's resident musicologist Tony Traguardo celebrates the breaking down of racial barriers evident in popular music from the 1950s through the late 1970s. The music that Tony will discuss was made by bands who defied the social mores of the 60s and early 70 by eschewing 'color barriers'. In these groups, black and white musicians teamed up to offer us the best music they could make as a collective, with no concern over the color of each player's skin.
