Program Description

Event Details

“Yes We Can” became the rallying cry for women in WWII. Answering their country’s call, women rolled up their sleeves and went to work wherever they were needed. When almost all able-bodied men went off to fight on the front lines, women took their place on the home front, serving as riveters, pilots, nurses, scientists and truck drivers. This program is part of the Library's celebration of Women's History Month and is presented by historian Patricia DelGiorno. She will focus on the “Rosies” and how the women’s work influenced the course of the war, and, conversely, how the war work affected the women’s lives. It also includes film clips of interviews with many of the Rosies.

Please note that this will be a hybrid event. Participants are invited to join us in person or via zoom.
