Film: "The Piano"

“THE PIANO” (1993-121 min.). Mute pianist Ada McGrath (Holly Hunter) journeys from Scotland to New Zealand to marry gentleman settler Alisdair Stewart (Sam Neill), but a romance develops between her and George Baines (Harvey Keitel), the illiterate caretaker who has purchased her precious piano. Writer/director Jane Campion’s drama earned Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Stuart Dryburg's cinematography, Janet Patterson's costumes and Veronika Jenet's editing; it won Oscars for Best Screenplay, Best Actress Holly Hunter and Best Supporting Actress Anna Paquin (as Ada’s daughter Flora).
