When manipulative carnival man Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper) teams with equally deceptive psychiatrist Lilith Ritter (Cate Blanchett) to grift the wealthy in 1940s New York society, he learns that his new partner in crime might be his most formidable opponent yet. Producer/director Guillermo Del Toro scripted with Kim Morgan, from the William Lindsay Gresham novel adapted previously in 1947. Also in the cast: Rooney Mara as Molly Cahill, Toni Collette as Zeena, Willem Dafoe as Clem Hoatley, and Richard Jenkins as Ezra Grindle.
