Event Details

Join current artist in residence Eileen Shaloum for a reception and talk about her current exhibit Invisible Cities, which will be on display in the Adler Art Gallery from September 8 to November 10.  Eileen Shaloum is a painter and mixed media artist inspired by whimsy, joy, and the innocence of children’s art. A former public school art educator, she blends abstract sophistication with childlike freedom, using bold colors and playful compositions. Her work often features fabric, string, beads, and found objects to add texture and mystery. Inspired by Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, she developed a decade-long series called Invisible Cities and a unique style she calls “Dreamscapes.” These works include canvas paintings and asymmetrical wall hangings made with sewn and glued mixed media, giving them a sculptural, interactive feel meant to invite physical and playful engagement.

Join Eileen Shaloum at 2:30 p.m. as she discusses her current exhibit of work on display in the Adler Gallery. She will share some of her artistic process and how she creates her artwork.
