Known for his exquisite portraits and history paintings, Juan de Pareja was an Afro-Hispanic slave and later freed assistant to 17th century Spanish painter Diego Velázquez. Museum educator, Alice W. Schwarz will give you a sneak peek and discussion into Pareja’s works and the Met’s upcoming exhibition opening on April 3rd. This program is part of an on-going series about 17th Century painters.
