Michelangelo: A Dialogue with Antiquity
Many art historians consider Michelangelo to be the greatest artist of all time, and for good reason: works such as his towering marble sculpture David and his Sistine Ceiling fresco painting have stood for centuries as high points in art history.
This lecture by Artist and Lecturer Christopher Parrott will explore the relationship between Michelangelo's work and the Classical Greco-Roman achievements that inspired him. For all of Michelangelo's passion and inventiveness, it was his lifelong study of Classical works that gave him the technical know-how to sculpt, paint, draw, and design at the highest level.
