Come read and grow with us! Drop-in to celebrate the kickoff of our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program with special Saturday storytimes at 11:00 a.m and 2:30 p.m.

Why participate in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program? Parents & Caregivers are children's first educators. By reading aloud to your child you are helping to build early literacy skills. The more you read with your child the more language, songs, sounds, gestures and words they are exposed to. The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge is to simply encourage you to read a book, any book, to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to read 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten. It's easier than you think and the rewards are priceless.

Port Washington Public Library is happy to support you in this journey by providing a chart and stickers to track your progress. We are also always available to make age appropriate recommendations of our favorite books.
