Mira, Turkey: The REAL hometown of Santa Claus

Every child and parent knows that Santa Claus lives in the North Pole. But this is not true! St. Nicholas lived in the Greek populated city of Mira in 270 that is today in Turkey. He gained fame for providing dowries to enable poor unmarried girls to wed. His fame spread throughout the Christian world and even to Holland where Saint (Sinter in Dutch) Nicholas (Klaas in Dutch) became Sinter Klaas and eventually morphed into Santa Claus in New York City. Today the church of St. Nicholas is still in Mira but there are no reindeer, snow, sleighs, elves, or Mrs. Claus. Discover this glorious town and the REAL history of Santa Claus. Ron Brown explains why it is not advisable to bring children under the age of 18.
