Join Dr. Ronald Brown in exploring the New York City experience of 9/11 as he shares his own personal experiences from that day. “I was in my apartment in Queens when the first plane struck on that fateful day of September 11. I watched and filmed the collapse of the Second Tower from the Queensboro Bridge, and spent the rest of the day interviewing people and taking pictures in Lower Manhattan. The following Saturday I was back giving guided tours as a docent at the New-York Historical Society.” Every minute the 9/11 exhibit was updated as new information flooded into the newspapers, television news, and PBS specials. In the weeks following the history of 9/11 was written by docents such as Dr. Brown. September 11th, as experienced by real New Yorkers, constitutes a central chapter in what eventually evolved as the official history of 9/11.
