Event Details
Join Dr. Ronald Brown who will explore the ancient lost city of Petra which flourished for four crucial centuries from around 200 BCE to 200 AD. Zoroastrian missionaries from Iran spread their teachings of one God, heaven and hell. Judaism shattered into many forms with the destruction of Israel in 70 AD and Jews sought a new identity. Christians battled over the theological and political shape their new religion would take. The gods of the Greeks and Romans struggled to retain their ancient dominance. The Arabs were searching for a unique form of religion that would eventually result in Islam. Petra in today’s Jordan was at the crossroads of the Middle East where priests, rabbis, preachers, bishops, prophets, and mystics abounded, new religions emerged, and ancient faiths died.
