As we approach not only a pivotal election in our nation’s history but also a ground-breaking reassessment of our country’s complex relationships with its African American communities and our attitudes towards women, this two-part series explores the lives of the Sojourner Truth and Harriet Tubman. These remarkable women took very different approaches to the evils of slavery, but both left equally indelible marks on the course of America’s history. They never flinched in the face of adversity or shrunk from challenging institutional racism and sexism. Their heroic stories are as important and inspirational today as they were when they fought for the freedom of millions in the 19th century. Join Dr. William Thierfelder as he guides this exploration of American History. Part one will focus on Sojourner Truth and part two (on October 30th) will focus on Harriet Tubman.
