Best known for his portraits of black New Yorkers, photographer, James VanDerZee was a leading figure in the Harlem Renaissance. As part of the Library's celebration of Black History Month, join museum educator Alice W. Schwarz as she chronicles VanDerZee's extensive career of capturing the personalities, character and beauty of his sitters and documenting Harlem from his studio on West 135th Street.
