A Series: Crossroads – Empires and Emporia
At three prominent locations within the Met Museum where major paths intersect, new installations, drawn from diverse areas of the collection will examine the idea of cultural interconnectedness. Join museum educator, Alice W. Schwarz for the last in a series of three discussions of Crossroads an exhibition that explores shared ideas and artistic forms from around the world. This third talk highlights the cultural connections between Asia, Europe, and the Americas in the 16th century. Transatlantic and transpacific trade of luxury goods in silk, silver, ivory, and porcelain established links of human encounters, ideas, and exchange.
