(1937-77 min.). A newspaperman (Fredric March) is eager to exploit the story of a young woman (Carole Lombard) dying of radium poisoning. She knows she’s not really sick, but can’t pass up a free trip to New York City. William A. Wellman’s comedy classic was scripted by Ben Hecht. Look for three more screwball screenings on subsequent Friday evenings this month. Philip Harwood is a librarian and film historian whose recent presentations at the Library have included series on Alfred Hitchcock, Rod Serling and Doris Day.
