The Library is proud to present a SoundSwap event featuring The Roues Brothers quartet, featuring Billy Roues, Steven ‘Muddy’ Roues, Gary Solomon and Ed Steinberg.

Billy and Steven “Muddy” Roues have been making music together since they were kids. Both play guitars and sing, with Steven adding harmonica (blues Harp) and bass to their brotherly mix.

In 1990 the brothers formed a musical alliance with longtime friends (and bandmates) Gary Solomon, who contributes bass, guitar and vocals, and drummer, Ed Steinberg, who adds additional vocals and percussion. The foursome are kindred spirits, and journeymen in the music business, with each having crossed paths with some of the greats of Blues, Rockabilly, Rock’n’Roll, Country, Soul, Folk, Jazz and Rhythm and Blues. They have shared their music with the likes of B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Carl Perkins, Bo Diddley, Howlin’ Wolf, Pinetop Perkins, Lonnie Mack, Lenny Kaye, David Bromberg, Garth Hudson, Rick Danko, Graham Parker, Pete Seeger, Johnny Johnson, and many more.

The experience of working with these artists that were, and still are, mentors to them, whether onstage, in the studio, or in the songwriting process, left an indelible mark on the music that The Roues Brothers are making today. Their music can be heard worldwide on the internet, in movie and television soundtracks, and on many recordings available through numerous online outlets. The Roues Brothers have garnered new fans when since song I’m Movin’ Out, was included in the video game “Fallout New Vegas.”

Recent years spent dedicating themselves to playing, writing and recording original material has led to a sound which they call RouesRock: a blend of Blues Rock, RootsRock, Alt-Folk and Country, along with any number of influences they picked up from their vast experience as musical journeymen. Join them as the Port Washington Public Library becomes a stop on that journey!
