'For the Record' - Come and Share Your Thoughts About Elton John's Classic Album 'Madman Across the Water'
The album "Madman Across the Water" was Elton John's fourth complete studio effort, and it is considered by some to be his first true 'masterpiece'. The lyrics to the album's nine songs, all written by Bernie Taupin, include sweeping and beautiful observations captured and preserved while the pair traveled through America, experiencing its beauty, feeling its history, and reckoning with the tribulations of life on the road as touring musicians. The melodies and the musical and vocal performances are, arguably, some of the most memorable of Elton's career. Join the library's own Tony Traguardo, an Elton John collector and historian, as he moderates a conversation about this landmark album in this first installment of a new program series called 'For the Record'. Registration for this program begins on September 1st, and registrants who do not own or have access to the album may request a free copy of the CD or LP, available on a "first come first served" basis, at the information desk.
