Photography Club of Long Island with PCLI Guest Speaker – Alan Agdern, Creating Great Images

Please join PCLI at the Port Washington Public Library on Wednesday, April 12, at 7:30 pm, where we are sponsoring a presentation on Creating Great Images by photographer Alan Agdern.

There are many elements needed to create good and great images. These include the Subject, Lighting, Background and Foreground, and Composition. In this presentation, Alan will discuss these concentrating on the first and most important one, the “Subject.” Using multiple examples, he will discuss identifying the subject and creating a resting point for the viewer’s eyes, using composition, brightness and darkening, sharping, depth of field, and cropping techniques which will make subjects stand out.

Alan is an amateur photographer whose passion for photography started at a very young age, both for taking photographs and developing them in his darkroom. He was an early convert to digital photography, purchasing his first digital camera in 1998.

Alan provides workshops, seminars, and private instruction in the use of Lightroom, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Luminar, Aurora, and Topaz post-processing software. He runs workshops in conjunction with Camera Land NY, both at their facility in old Bethpage and remotely via Zoom.

Alan was inducted into the Photographic Federation of Long Island (PFLI) "Hall of Fame.” As an active member of the Syosset Camera Club, Alan competes in Salon groups for Black and White, Color prints, and Digital images. His website, alanagdern.myportfolio.com, contains samples of his images and links to blogs on Lightroom and Photoshop techniques. His images can also be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/AlanAgdern and on Instagram @snapshooter1
