Before The Twilight Zone, Rod Serling wrote plays for television, during the medium’s golden age of live dramatic broadcasts. As with many of his later television and film scripts, Serling touched on serious social topics. This month, film historian and librarian Philip Harwood will present three early television dramas by the multi-Emmy award winning writer and producer. Tonight, Patterns (1955-60 min.). Serling’s first big success, as seen on Kraft Theater, is an intense, emotional look at the corporate world, in which one man rises while another man falls. Everett Sloan, Richard Kiley and Ed Begley Sr. star. Fielder Cook directed.
