Join The Mad Hatters for a very special ‘Live at Lapham’ event as they pay tribute to ‘The Rocket Man’, performing music from the incredible catalog of Sir Elton John on his 75th birthday!

The Mad Hatters band unites lifelong musical friends, many of whom are members of the Manhasset-based band Snapper Head, who have decided to join forces once again. The goal? To form a powerful hard-hitting four piece group that will showcase some of the greatest early songs from one of the most successful, beloved and important artists in pop music history. Although this is a new project, these talented musicians have been playing together for many years cranking out Rhythm & Blues, Funk and Soul music every chance they get.

Front and center on piano is Johnny Vlahos. Johnny has been playing and writing songs since he was a child and he's only just getting started. On guitar is Shawn Martin, a self-taught player whose style is soulful and funky. Shawn has a knack for playing just about anything with strings. On drums is Andrew Mega, a seasoned local player with roots going back to the 80s and 90s, adds his own unique touch to this powerful band. Multi-instrumentalist Jay Polcari will be featured for his skills as an acoustic guitar and mandolin player. At the ‘bottom’ is Patrick Polcari on bass. Influenced by the 70’s funk era and bands such as The Allman Brothers, he plays heavy and keeps the energy up with his unique approach to the instrument. Together, these musicians form a fun and energetic unit that love nothing more than playing music that makes the audience feel good, “...and for this event”, Vlahos says, “that will be the music of Sir Elton John!”

The Mad Hatters’ special guest is the Greek-American vocal powerhouse, singer Annet Artani. Ms. Artani is best known for representing Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Why Angels Cry", as well as for co-writing the worldwide hit "Everytime" with Britney Spears, who Annet also toured extensively with in the early 2000s.
