Event Details

As part of the library's celebration of freedom of expression during 'Banned Books Week', join Tony Traguardo for a look at these and some of the other fascinating reasons why songs have been banned from radio and TV over the course of the past sixty years. You'll learn about the FBI's investigation into 'Louie Louie', the banning of Elvis' pelvis, and the FM radio and TV personalities who refused to 'follow the rules'. Tony will also touch upon some of the early blues and 'race' records that pushed beyond the boundaries of the censors. Don't worry, no registration is required for this event, so 'the man' will never need to know that you came!

Please note this will be a hybrid event and participants are invited to join us in-person or virtually on Zoom.
