Joan Blondell Double Bill: "Union Depot" & "Three Men on a Horse"

"Union Depot" (1931-68 min.). Grifters Chic (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) and Scrap (Guy Kibbee) redeem a lost baggage claim ticket for a violin case stuffed with cash. Chic hopes to use the dough to to help down-on-her-luck Mabel (Ms. Blondell). Kenyon Nicholson & Walter DeLeon scripted for director Alfred E. Green. After a short intermission, Mervyn LeRoy's "Three Men on a Horse" (1936-86 min.), about a luckless greeting card writer (Frank McHugh) with a knack for picking winning horses. Ms. Blondell steals the show as Mabel; her co-stars include Carol Hughes, Allen Jenkins and Sam Levene.
