Program Description

Event Details

The audience is invited into the life and times of Emily Dickinson in this inspiring biographical portrait based on the Poet’s letters, life stories and poems! Via “Interactive Bookends” Ms. Grace reaches out to the audience for words and ideas and weaves them into the fabric of the piece! Emily’s secrets combine with seismic creativity -- as her poems take shape in radical form – shocking to the fashions of her time! This is an Emily of irrepressible delight, depth, intrigue and passion. With interactive elements at play – the Poet’s creativity is mixed with that of the audience – empowering the voice of everyone in the theatre! This special program is part of the Library’s celebration of Women’s History Month as well as National Poetry Month.

Ginger Grace has toured nationally opposite Rich Little in The Presidents (playing all of his First Ladies from Jackie Kennedy to Hillary Clinton). She has received recent Film Awards for her performance of MOM in WEDDING MARCH – including PBS’s Reel 13 Competition and Best Indie Film at the Amsterdam International Short Film Festival. She has toured the country in The First Ladies Coalition, (written by Ms. Grace and directed by Austin Pendleton) playing Eleanor Roosevelt, Lady Bird Johnson, Jackie Kennedy & Mary Todd Lincoln. Ms. Grace has led workshops with the CASA program in New York City, as well as with students throughout the country and thrives on bringing out the voices of children!
