Piet Mondrian (1872-1944): Ever further (Guggenheim Museum November 22, 2024 through April 20, 2025,) is the first in the exhibition series, Collection in Focus, that highlights artists from the Guggenheim’s permanent Collection. The Guggenheim’s collection of Mondrian’s work includes one of the most representative in the world.
Piet Mondrian was a member of the Dutch modernist movement, “de Stijl,” who made significant contributions to abstract art by moving painting away from the representation of nature to render a universal essence or spirit narrowed to using only vertical and horizontal lines, and primary colors.
The Guggenheim exhibition will showcase works that chronicles the evolution of the Dutch-born painter’s signature style, from his early experiments in the Netherlands and his most productive period in Paris, to his final years in New York City.
Professor Thomas Germano will discuss Mondrian’s life and times in this visual lecture presentation.
