Film: "The Sower" ("Le Semeur") (2017-98 min.).

Violette (Pauline Burlet) comes of age just when her Alpine village is cruelly deprived of all its men by the uprising of December 1851. The village women swear an oath that if a man should appear, he will become their shared husband. Director Marine Francen adapted a book by Violette Aikaud. This Film Movement presentation begins with Ms. Francen’s short "Les Voisins" ("Neighbors") (2010-20 min.), about a shy female photographer. Both films are in French with English subtitles.
