After seventeen years in jail, crook Dannie O'Neill (Victor McLaglan) meets Sheila O'Neill, a.k.a. Nancy Steele (June Lang), the young woman he kidnapped when she was a child. Now she now thinks he's her father. Screenwriters Gene Fowler and Hal Long adapted Charles Francis Coe's story "Ransom" for director George Marshall.
