Ned Hanlon is thrilled to return to his hometown Port Washington and sing at the Public Library, site of so many hours of youthful reading, dreaming, and exploring. While this will be his first performance in Port since the 2000 Port Summer Show production of Little Mary Sunshine, Ned has maintained close ties to the community and his parents still live in town. Twenty years later, Ned is nearing the end of his 6th season as a full-time member of the Metropolitan Opera Chorus; by May he will have performed on the iconic stage over 1000 times. Ned resides in New York City with his wife, Tanya Roberts, who will be a special guest during the performance. Ned will be accompanied on piano by Monica Meng-Chieh Lu, who was born and raised in Taiwan. She is the recipient of the “Oversea Study/Research Grant” of the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. Lu has performed with Martha Graham Dance Company in New York City Center, at MoMA with Bang On A Can and Ensemble 4’33’’, and appeared as the opening act for Helga Davis “My Favorite Things” at National Sawdust.
