Film historian and librarian Phillip Harwood will present and discuss four films from the early years of the career of the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. Tonight he presents The 39 Steps (1935. 89 min.) While on vacation, Richard Hannay (Robert Donat) becomes embroiled in an international spy ring. Suspected of a murder he did not commit and now on the run to clear his name, Hannay is assisted by a stranger named Pamela (Madeleine Carroll).

These virtual programs will begin on Zoom with a 10 minute introduction with film historian and librarian Phillip Harwood. You can then follow a link to Hoopla to watch the film remotely for free. Afterwards, return to Zoom at the designated time for further discussion of the film.
