Film historian and librarian Phillip Harwood will present and discuss four films from the early years of the career of the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. Tonight he presents Blackmail. (1929. 85 min.) In Hitchcock’s first sound film, a young woman (Anny Ondra) kills a man in self-defense, then is blackmailed by a witness to the crime.

These virtual programs will begin on Zoom with a 10 minute introduction with film historian and librarian Phillip Harwood. You can then follow a link to either Kanopy or Hoopla to watch the film remotely for free. Afterwards, return to Zoom at the designated time for further discussion of the film.
