Osteoporosis leads to a loss of bone mass, resulting in susceptibility to fractures, even on minor impact. Generally, older women are at risk, and many are unaware that they may be suffering from this condition. Dr. Subhashini Katumuluwa, who is currently conducting research on the effects of Vitamin D and calcium intake on bone health in women over sixty, will discuss this common disease. Dr. Katumuluwa is certified in preventive medicine, and is a Clinical Research Fellow at the Bone Mineral Research Center at Winthrop University Hospital.
