Art Lecture with Alice Schwarz - Joseph Wright of Derby: British Painter

Join museum educator, Alice W. Schwarz, for a lecture on the British painter Joseph Wright. A contemporary of the great portrait painters, Sir Joshua Reynolds and Thomas Gainsborough of London, Wright spent most of his life in the midland town of Derby painting portraits and landscapes. Created during the Age of Enlightenment, his works are known for tenebrism, an extreme use of lights and darks.  (Sponsored by the Friends of the Library)
